In the mountains, the short growing season has always affected the annual course of farming activities. The rhythm of daily works is slow and quiet in winter, it increases during springtime and becomes almost incessant in summer to slow down again in autumn.
During the summer months all the family was involved in haymaking.
The pasturelands of the Regole and the private and collective meadows have ensured a production of fodder adequate to feed nearly two thousand cattle and over three thousand sheep and allowed the families to store an adequate amount of hay for the long winter months.
Most of the valley lands was devoted to cultivations; this is why many families would rent the meadows owned by the Regole.
